“If you need Azure expertise, Mallow is the company to turn to,”

says Barona’s Solution Architect Simo Haakana

Barona migrated its identity and access management for corporate clients to Azure AD B2C, resulting in cost savings and improved services for customers.

In Finnish, they say “split, cut and stack the firewood” when something needs to be done quickly and efficiently. Such words well describe the early stages of the Mallow–Barona collaboration, when Barona – Finland’s largest personnel services company – reached out to Mallow.

“We had a pre-designed solution and a concrete need for which we required Azure expertise,” says Simo Haakana.

Henri Hietala, an Azure architect from Mallow involved in the project, explains that Barona had a backlog ready to be implemented. After about a month and a half of work, Barona was able to offer its corporate customers a single sign-on portal running on Azure with an improved user experience and additional services.

“This was a great project where pretty much everything fell into place. The work was completed on time and within budget. The communication with Henri has been positive throughout the project, and it has been easy for our team to understand the big picture and the features we can leverage from Azure,”

says Haakana.

One of Azure’s many great features is how easy it is to build dashboards for managing user data and for reporting. Barona’s previous corporate customer portal didn’t allow for precise monitoring and reporting of service users, so Hietala suggested adding dashboards into the new portal.

“The dashboards were a great addition, and the idea to include them was because of Henri’s expertise.”

According to Haakana, this collaboration with Mallow produced far greater benefits than the project’s size initially implied, as Mallow’s experience with Azure opens a variety of different future software development scenarios for Barona.

“We are actively discussing potential models for ongoing collaboration with Mallow.”
