Our previous story was about growth—not so much bragging about big numbers, but as a mindset. Attending the Nordic Business Forum in late September and seeing those presentations got me thinking about what we should build next. To chase growth is inevitable, but the question is: where should we focus?
We’re a tech company, so we’re quite well on the forefront of what’s happening. Still, there’s a contradiction in the air.
“New New” vs. “New Old”
Lately, it’s felt like the only “new” things are generative AI models and virtual agents. But as the market buzzes with innovation, it’s good to remember that not all development has to depend on what’s newest. In reality, many organizations are now looking at their IT infrastructure, data assets, and employee productivity tools in a completely new light.
This reveals the central challenge of the moment: At the same time IT is facing great pressure to make savings, the adoption of GenAI and data solutions demands unprecedented flexibility from the infrastructure. It leads to a classic chicken-and-egg discussion: How can you build the new if your business and IT architecture are lagging behind?
Are You Really Using Your Cloud?
The good news is that as AI evolves, so do the cloud platforms. The “new old” – the core infrastructure – is also advancing. Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and modern security are yielding significant cost and productivity advantages. We’re seeing plenty of projects where organizations are modernizing cloud platforms that were built only a few years ago. In the era of digitalization and AI, the number of applications and services has exploded. With more people and partners building on the platform, the result is often non-optimal processes, a vast amount of unused resources, and a lack of shared resources.
Things have become complicated and, of course, more expensive. In the cloud, the technology constantly evolves for you. The real question is: Are you taking advantage of these new capabilities?
Housekeeping Makes Room for Growth
Now is the time to do some thorough housekeeping. To truly allow an organization to build new, business-driven data and AI solutions, its foundation – the platform – needs attention.
